Inquest into kite flyers’ deaths held

The inquest into the accidental deaths of three persons including a five-year-old child, after they fell down from a three storey house under construction on Friday (14) was held on Saturday at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.

The three victims had been flying kites on the top floor of the three storey building when they fell down as a roofing sheet over the top floor covering the space for the elevator collapsed, while they were standing on the sheet.

The victims were identified as Selavaraja Jagadeeswaran (41), his son Jagadeeswaran Sandesh (5) and Illeperuma Ranga Ashoka (43), a father of three. The post-mortem was conducted by Consultant Judicial Medical Officer Ruwan Nanayakkara of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
