PM urges NHDA to prioritise housing for low income earners

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) to focus special attention on providing houses to a majority of low-income earners and middle-class individuals.

The Prime Minister informed officials of the National Housing Development Authority of this during a discussion held with them at Temple Trees on Tuesday (11).

Prime Minister Rajapaksa focused his attention on proposed housing projects as well as projects being implemented currently on behalf of low-income earners and middle-class people.

As the Minister in charge of the subject, the Prime Minister instructed officials of the National Housing Development Authority to take the required steps to complete these projects soon without any delays.

Meanwhile, he had informed officials to expedite legal tasks required to construct proposed housing projects in Bambalapitiya and Narahenpita and to inform relevant contract firms and to implement these projects so that a larger group of people will be provided with housing facilities.

State Minister Indika Anuruddha, Addition Secretary to the Prime Minister Chaminda Kularatne, Secretary to the State Ministry, Engineer Keerthi Ranjith Abeysiriwardene, Director of the Housing Development Authority D.A.Piyasena Weeraratne, Deputy General Manager K.A.Janaka and Legal Officer D. M. Jayalath were present on this occasion.
