May Day rallies canceled

The National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCPC) announced that, all May Day rallies have been canceled due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation. The decision was reached during a meeting held with party leaders at the National Operations Centre for the prevention of COVID-19 today.

The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak with the concurrence of political party representatives has decided not to hold any May Day rallies or meetings.

All political party representatives in unison have agreed not to conduct any type of rally or meeting to mark the May Day due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country.

Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said that all political party representatives who had met at the NOCPCO came to this agreement due to the possibility for COVID-19 virus to spread in the country again.
