Attorney General Dappula de Livera has instructed the CID Director to name Inspector Lasantha Ratnayake, Sub Inspector E.Nishatha Silva and Constable Premakumara as suspects in connection with the murder of Army Suranga.
Attorney General’s Coordinating Officer State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said the Attorney General had instructed the CID that sufficient evidence was found for the Embilipitiya Magistrate’s Court to conduct a preliminary inquiry into the suspects on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder under Section 296 of the Penal Code.
Accordingly, the Attorney General had further instructed the CID to name them as suspects and produce them before the relevant Magistrate’s Court after obtaining statements from them in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure code.
