SLIC staff donates PCR machine to Ratnapura Teaching Hospital

Sri Lanka Insurance staff members have joined hands to contribute towards the effort to donate essential PCR Machine to the Teaching Hospital Ratnapura.

The Teaching Hospital Ratnapura is the largest tertiary care hospital in Sabaragamuwa province administered under the purview of the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine. It provides specialized health care services mainly to the Sabaragamuwa province, which consists of Ratnapura and Kegalle Districts covering a population of 2,009,000 in an extent of 4968 km2 area. People coming from other provinces such as Uva, Southern and Eastern seek specialized medical care from the hospital.

Understanding the essential requirement of a PCR machine to conduct regular PCR tests in the hospital, staff members of SLIC volunteered to contribute a one day salary to purchase the machine worth of LKR 5,000,000 approximately. This is yet another initiative of Sri Lanka Insurance to support the mission of battling Covid 19 pandemic in Sri Lanka by reinforcing the state health care sector with necessary equipment.

The much needed machine was donated to the Teaching Hospital Ratnapura on 30th March 2021. Minister of Health Ms.Pavithra Devi Wanniarachchi, State Minister Janaka Wakkumbura, Governer of Sabaragamuwa Province Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, management and staff members of SLIC, management and staff members of Teaching Hospital Ratnapura, were present at the occasion.
