Onrey Perera of St. Joseph’s College, Nugegoda scored two successive centuries for his Alma Mater in two separate outings in the on going Inter School under 19 Limited Over Division Three Cricket Tournament for the year 2021. He scored 107 and 140 runs against Science College, Mount. Lavinia and Defence College, Colombo 02 respectively.

The newcomers to the Inter School first eleven cricket in 2021 Nugegoda Joes are going great guns by winning both their games and first eleven cricket was introduced to them by their cricket loving Principal Rev. Bro. Sunanda Alwis with the assistance of Deputy Principal Rev. Bro. Joseph Peiris and Masters in Charge Rev. Bro. Dulaj Fernando, Roshan Chathuranga and Pramindu Madushanka

Onrey’s name will go down in history of the Nugegoda Joes Cricket for not only scoring a century in their first ever Inter School game but for scoring centuries in two successive tournament matches. He bats left hand and bowls right arm medium pace with a good arm and is a safe fielder in any position. They are coached by Viroshan Alwis while his Assistant is Shashila Fennando.

Batting first against the Mount. Lavinia lads Onrey’s century consisted of nine fours and eight sixes facing 72 balls and occupied the crease for 105 minutes and was associated in a third wicket partnership of 157 runs with Anjana Logus who contributed 36 runs and they won by a massive 169 runs and in their second encounter versus Defence College, Colombo he amassed 140 runs with 14 fours and 7 sixes and occupied the crease for 125 minutes facing 98 balls and put on 83 runs for the fourth wicket with Ramidu Peiris who made 21 runs and beat the Defence College by a huge margin of 178 runs.
