Eight suspects in Bond Scam subjected to PCR tests

The eight suspects, including former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, who were remanded by courts in connection with the bond scam, have been subjected to PCR tests yesterday.

Commissioner General of Prisons (Administration and Prisons Rehabilitation) and Media Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said that if the results of their PCR tests are negative, they will be sent to the Colombo Remand Prison.

If these reports confirm that they are infected with COVID 19, they will be referred to the Kandakadu Treatment Center, he said.

The suspects are now at the Special Quarantine Center at the Women’s Section of the Welikada Prison.

Women inmates at the Welikada Prison have been sent to the old Bogambara Prison where a quarantine centre has been set up.
