Nethmi Kaushalya Nawanjani an outstanding volleyball player

Sri Lanka Junior Girls Volleyball Player Nethmi Kaushalya Nawanjani has brought honour and fame to her Alma Mater Vijayaba Vidyalaya, Hungama and her motherland. Initially she was admitted to Senarath Paranawithana National School Hungama in 2006 and from there she shifted to Vijayaba Vidyalaya Hungama in 2011. During this period she did not take part in any game whilst at school.

In 2013 her parents Priyantha Nandana and Nirosha Dilhani insisted Nethmi to do at least one sport and she took up volleyball and came under Head Coach of her school Tharaka Ratnaweera. After a hard and

strenuous training she was selected to the under 15 team in 2016 and her school team won the Divisional, Zonal and District Tournaments and participated for the All Island Inter Schools DSI under 15 Tournament and they won the third place and in the following year going through the same process Vijayaba Vidyalaya became the runners up of the under 18 DSI Tournament. With her excellent performance she was selected to the under 19 Junior Gilrs Tour of Vietnam and 16 teams participated and it was a fine exposure for Nethmi.

After returning from Vietnam she participated for the All Island Inter School Volleyball Tournament and her school was the runner up in 2019 at the Janadhipathi Gold Cup Challenge Trophy organized by Dialog and in 2020 in the Munchee National Tournament she represented the Sri Lanka Navy and they won the third place and lost to Sri Lanka Air Force and at present she is under going training regularly under Mr. Indika for the forthcoming Galaxy Cup. She had a word of praise for her Principal, Teachers and Coaches for supporting her to come up the ladder.
