‘Exporters should navigate challenges and win marketplace’

In a complex global market filled with uncertainties being on time in the correct market is of paramount importance. With multiple regulatory requirements and global competition, it is important to support Sri Lankan exporters to navigate such challenges and win in the marketplace.

Speaking at a webinar organised by Sri Lanka Export Development Board under the theme, “Understand End to End Logistics Journey of the Exports Market,Randima Krishnaratne, Country Sales Manager – Maersk in Sri Lanka said, it is important to embrace evolving technologies and pace, navigating uncertainties and creating value to take Sri Lankan exports to other markets.

Speaking further she said it is also essential to identify strengths such as logistics integrators and niche service providers whilst looking beyond traditional markets when it comes to exporting products.

“It is also essential to manage complexities which include different documentation, commodity based clearances, quality and labeling requirements, storage conditions, financial and legal implications, diverse transport conditions and customized requirements.”

Highlighting the need to create value by differentiating products, understanding market requirements, creating the need and ethical products, Krishnaratne said that other factors such as optimum utilization of technology, visibility of the supply chain.

Paperless trade, ease of doing business, ease of payments, wider marketplace would help take the industry to the next level.
