Burial of COVID-19 victims bodies will be allowed

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa told Parliament today that permission would be granted for the bodies of Covid victims in Sri Lanka to be buried.

Responding to a question from Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP, S. M. Marikkar, Prime Minister told that burial of bodies of COVID-19 victims will be allowed. The Muslim community claimed that cremation was against their religious beliefs, and called on the Government to halt forced cremation and permit burials in line with the guidelines issued by the World Health organization with regard to COVID-19 and practiced in other countries.
