Airports open after 9 months today

The Bandaranaike International Airport which will open today after nine months will see the arrival of 433 passengers.

There will be multitude of passenger flights, repatriation flights and cargo flights, Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority Upul Dharmadasa told Daily News Business yesterday.

The airlines which will be flying in will be SriLankan, Emirates, Etihad, Cathay Pacific and some cargo carriers. Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority Kimarli Fernando and other Ministry officials, at a TV talk show said that these tourists would be staying in hotels ranging from USD 50 to 400. New marketing campaigns would also be launched to India to woo tourists from India. However, tourists from UK and also passengers who were in UK will not be accepted in Sri Lanka for now.

Tourism complains hotline 1912 is now in place to entertain any complains and violation of quarantine rules by both tourists as well as locals.
