Do not tolerate interference in probes – IGP tells OICs

Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickremaratne yesterday issued a Special Circular for the respective Officers In Charge (OICs) of all Police stations and all superior officers of the Police to take legal action against persons who attempt to interfere with Police investigations claiming to be his associates.

Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said that Police Stations had received telephone calls from various parties pretending to be relatives or close friends of the IGP.

Following that, the IGP issued a Special Circular stating that he has not allowed anyone to interfere with the Police investigations and that action be taken against such people who are trying to flout the law in this respect.

“The IGP instructed all officers to carry out investigations impartially,” he said.
