Ayu comes to the wide screen

Chathra Weeraman who lead the Sri Lankan cinema industry along a new path through his debut film ‘Aloka Udapadi’, is back with his second direction titled ‘Ayu’. The film is produced by retired Army Commander General Days Rathnayake.

The film also marks screen queen Malini Fonseka’s 150th performance in an acting career spanning four decades.

Life is full of pleasant and unsavoury experiences. Life does not center upon myths. Man only realises this once he faces testing times. He either takes these challenges as a joke or tries to flee from them instead of facing them. Some seek the meaning of being born. This quest adds some reason to their existence. Life becomes meaningless without an aim. ‘Ayu’ rotates on two lives which seek these answers.

The story is by attorney at law Sanan Weeraman. The scrip has been penned by Chathra Weeraman together with Shakthi Weerasinghe. The film has been filmed according to the Dolby Atmos sound system. It was screened at the Barcelona Film Festival held in Spain a few months back.

Sandra Mark, Jagath Manuwarna, Malini Fonseka, Ashan Dias, Kendra Vithanage, Samanalee Fonseka, Sampath Jayaweera, Priyantha Sirikumara, Thumidu Dodanthenna, Dasun Pathirana and others act in the film. Kalinga Deshapriya is the cinematographer. The production planner and art director is by Bimal Dushmantha. Sanan Elvitigala is the editor. Music is by Milinda Tennakoon.

Make up and hairstyles are by Harsha Manjula and Hirun Shideen. Anurudda Weeraman and Saman Weeraman are the assistant producers of the project which is presented by Weeraman Brothers.
