“Track the Spread” system to help COVID-19 affected

The Rotaract Club of the University of Kelaniya has developed a "Track the Spread" mobile phone software system aimed at controlling the COVID-19 epidemic and helping people affected by it.

The Rotaract Association of the University of Kelaniya launched this project in July this year under the "Stop the Spread" initiative, which is the first step in launching projects to combat the COVID-19 epidemic with the participation of all associations across the country. This was done with the contribution of students studying computer software in universities.

President of the Rotaract Association of the University of Kelaniya Nipuna Rambukkanage, the head of the project, said that the "Track the Spread" mobile phone software can be used to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to help those affected by it.

Under this, two mobile phone software systems have been developed for PHI officers and quarantined persons, through which a number of facilities are available, including the health status of individuals, their location, telephone access, mental health facilities, and online health screening, he added.

He also explained that this would create an opportunity for self-discipline among the people.

He said the project has now been brought to the attention of the health sector, including the government, and that the ‘Track the Spread’ mobile phone software will be launched after a controlled test in the future.
