Thathsara Heshan a promising cricketer

The second year under 13 player and all rounder, right hand bat, right arm off spinner Thathsara Heshan brought honour to his Alma Mater, Gurukula Vidyalaya, Kelaniya in the inter school under 13 all island division one cricket tournament and he was promoted to the under 15 division one team last year.

Heshan commenced his cricket career at his school and initially he attended cricket practices at the cricket academy coached by Lal Senaratne and Rithika Dinesh respectively for one year.

Then he joined the Millennium Cricket Academy, Makola coached by Rithika Dinesh Mr. Anuruddha and Mr. Buddhika.

In his first year in the under 13 he scored 270 runs and claimed 15 wickets and in his second year he scored 588 runs with a century against St. Joseph’s College, Wattala and six half centuries and claimed eight wickets.

Playing in the under 15 team last year he passed the 200 run mark and he was selected for the Gampaha District team and initially he got selected to the 100 member all island squad and it was later reduced to thirty members and he too is in the squad.

In addition he played for the Mercantile Cricket Association Academy in under 13 Nelson Mendis Tournament and in the under 15 tournament organized by Mahara Cricket Academy and representing them in the semi finals he won the Man of the Match Award for making the top score of 38 runs and claiming two wickets.
