New Parliament must deliver on President’s ‘Vision for Prosperity’- Prelate

The new Parliament consisting of professionals, members of learned community, mature politicians and patriots should be committed to make President’s ‘Vision for Prosperity’ a reality, Asgiriya Chapter Anunayake Thera Most Ven.Wedaruwe Upali Thera said.

Addressing a press conference at the Gedige Viharaya in Kandy yesterday, Ven.Upali Thera said the the new Parliament is now represented by those who actually love this country.

“The legislature should comprise not only professionals but patriots too to save the country from various divisive forces. The country will not benefit, if professionals and the learned people in Parliament work to divide the country. The new Parliament is a mixture of professionals, learned people and patriots,” he said.

The Thera said that the election results showed that people have placed enormous faith in the President’s ‘Vision for Prosperity’ programme.

“Certain politicians took futile efforts to deceive the people by promising them an allowance of Rs. 10,000 and 20,000 during election campaign.

But people had enormous faith in the President for freeing the country from the scourge of terrorism and threat of COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.

He said that the new cabinet of Ministers and State Ministers appointed by the President should properly understand their responsibilities and deliver results.
