Madduma Bandara files appeal against District Court order

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara has filed an appeal in the Colombo Civil Appellate High Court challenging Colombo District Court's order to refuse of issuing an enjoining order against the UNP office bearers over the expulsion of 99 SJB representatives.

On June 22, the Colombo District Court refused to issue an enjoining order preventing the UNP Working Committee’s decision to suspend the UNP party membership of 99 SJB representatives.

Through this appeal application, Ranjith Madduma Bandara is seeking an order to set aside Colombo District Court’s order dated June 22, 2020. The Colombo District Court refused to issue an enjoining order against UNP office bearers citing that the complainant has failed to disclose true facts relating to the petition.

When the petition came up before Colombo Civil Appellate High Court Judge Lafar Thahir and Sampath Abeykoon, the matter was fixed for consideration on July 6.

President’s Counsel Ikram Mohamed appeared for Ranjith Madduma Bandara. President’s Counsel Ronald Perera with counsel Dinesh Vidanapathirana appeared for defendants.
