Arms cache found in Homagama house; woman arrested

Police today found an arms cache including seven grenades at a house in Pitipana North, Homagama and arrested a woman who was residing in it.

The house was raided by Homagama Police on the information provided by the State Intelligence Service.

Two body armours, a repeater shotgun with four live bullets, and four unidentified weapons were among the arms cache.

Police said the woman is linked to the owner of the house where a haul of weapons were discovered on Monday.

The Special Task Force (STF) on Monday found 11 T-56 rifles and a T-81 rifle from a five-storey building in Pitipana, Homagama.

Two suspects including the building owner, who are said to be accomplices of underworld figures ‘Kosgoda Tharaka’ and ‘Gagana’ were arrested along with the weapon haul.
