The Meteorology Department has issued an advisory on strong winds and rough seas which is valid until June 20.
According to the advisory, "The deep and shallow sea area extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, Matara and Hambantota can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times".
According to the Department, the other sea areas around the island can be fairly rough at times.
The Department requests the Naval and fishing communities to be vigilant in this regard.
