President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has extended his gratitude to a young girl who has donated her savings to the “Itukama” COVID-19 Social Security Fund.

The young girl, one Rohansa, has made this donation along with a letter written for the President, thanking him, the Prime Minister and the Government for their commitment in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

In reply, President has written to her that, “I am very honoured to be appreciated by you for my work as the President of Sri Lanka. I am proud and deeply moved by the patriotism you showed by contributing to the “Itukama” COVID-19 Social Security Fund. I feel confident and relieved to hand over our Motherland to responsible Sri Lankan children like you in the future.”

The letter also said that, “Childhood is the most beautiful time of one’s life. Whilst enjoying, you must also study well, develop your skills and be innovative to raise Sri Lanka’s name up to the international stature. I wish you the highest success in your future endeavors!”

“I promise to use the powers vested on me as the President to develop social, economical and cultural aspects of our country for all children of Sri Lanka. Let’s love our country and win through every obstacle with unity,” the letter added.
