Itukama Fund swells to Rs.1230 million

The Itukama Covid-19 Health and Social Security Fund has risen to Rs. 1230 million with donations streaming in from institutions and private donors, according to the President’s Media Division.

WNS Global Services donated Rs. 5,895,000 while the Kiribathgoda, Eriyawetiya Sri Rathna Viharawasi Ven. Bangaladeshaye Chandrajothi Thera donated Rs. 100,000 to the fund. The cheques of these donations were handed over to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Further, the Sir John Kothalawala Defence University donated Rs. 5 million to the fund and the cheque was handed over to the President by the Vice Chancellor Maj.Gen. Milinda Peiris yesterday (02). The Health Ministry Unit for the Strengthening of the Primary Health Services Network donated Rs. 37,358.71, the J.R. Jayawardene Centre donated Rs. 145,183.30, Ven.Lathpandure Rahula Thera donated Rs. 100,000, Singha Land Sales donated Rs.500,000, Chandana Senaratne donated Rs. 200,000 and donations received to the Itukama website stood at Rs. 1,146,200. Accordingly, the balance of the fund stood at Rs. 1,230,748,037.77 as of yesterday. Local and foreign donors have contributed to this fund and doners could make their deposits to the fund through cheques, telegraphic transfers, via www.itukama.lk, or by dialing #207#.
