Rs.5000 payment for May too

The families who were affected by the spread of Covid 19 in the country will receive the grant of Rs. 5000 for the month of May as well, on the directive of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

 

The payment of the grant to the beneficiary families will begin today (4) and payment is to be completed before the Vesak Full Moon day. The President had decided to pay a grant of Rs. 5000 to the senior citizens, disabled persons and those who have chronic renal ailments since March this year. Those who are already qualified for this grant and those who are in the waiting list will receive this payment.

 

The payment of pension for retired government servants will also begin today (04) and is scheduled to be completed before the Vesak Full Moon day. The Government announced a host of financial relief programmes to low income and vulnerable families and individuals affected by the battle to contain the Covid 19 pandemic in Sri Lanka in March. On the President’s instructions, the two State Banks also offered a series of programmes for individuals and businesses affected by the crisis.
