Police urged to recognise lawyers’ ID for inter-district travel

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) has sent a letter to the Inspector General of Police regarding the difficulties faced by attorneys to perform their professional duties while travelling from one District to another. Accordingly, the BASL has requested the IGP to recognize BASL ID as a curfew pass when travelling from one District to another.

The BASL President Kalinga Indatissa PC stated that the BASL has been informed by the Police that they will be strictly implementing the restrictions relating to travelling from one District to another in view of the recent developments relating to the spreading of Covid-19. The Police had recognized the BASL ID as a curfew pass on the 23rd and 24th of April 2020. The BASL has informed its members that the BASL ID will not be recognized by the Police in view of the restrictions of movement from one District to another until further notice
