Lankan reported dead in Switzerland due to COVID-19

 A death was reported yesterday (27) by Swiss officials of a Sri Lankan National due to Coronavirus.

Sathasivam Loganathan,(59), who was living in Switzerland passed away from COVID-19, the Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry confirmed. Loganathan who was originally from Punkuduthivu, Jaffna was living with his relatives in Switzerland.

He was advised by the Swiss Police to be self-quarantined and had done so.

Upon inspection, it had been found that he had passed away on Thursday (26) from COVID-19.

The final rites will be carried out today (27). This incident has no connection to the Swiss Pastor of Sri Lankan origin who had arrived in the country and was later confirmed to be COVID-19 positive.

Meanwhile, reports have emerged of Sri Lankan national been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a French hospital.

 

Acting Director General Ministry of Foreign Relations Ruwanthi Delpitiya said, “the French Sri Lankan national was taken into the ICU and medical reasons are yet unknown. We are in touch with our embassy about his condition”.

A 59-year-old Sri Lankan has passed away due to COVID19 in Switzerland, confirmed the Ministry of Foreign Relations. This is the first COVID-19 affected death of a Sri Lankan.
