No final decision made by PSC on Dr.Shafi’s request

The Public Service Commission (PSC) yesterday said no final decision has been made as regards the request made to the Commission by Dr.S.S.M. Shafi who has been placed under compulsory leave.

The Commission in a media communiqué under the hand of its Secretary M.A.B.Daya Senarath said no inquiry of whatever nature has been made by the President or any other officer from the Presidential Secretariat on this matter from the Public Service Commission and all statements published through various media networks quite contrary to this matter are false. The full message: “No final decisions has so far been made as regards the request made to the Health Service Committee of the Public Service Commission through the Secretary of the Ministry of Health by Dr. S.S.M. Shafi who has been released on bail by the Court of Law that he be reinstated in service.

“The Secretary of the Ministry of Health has been asked to conduct a preliminary inquiry into the charges framed quite contrary to the Medical Officer concerned and submit the report thereon to the Health Service Committee of the Public Service Commission and the said report has not been received as yet.

“I wish to state that no final decision on this matter is arrived at by the Health Service Committee of the Public Service Commission until the Secretary of the Ministry of Health makes his recommendations on such repot and the request of Dr.S.S.M. Shafi. “I would like to inform that all the statements published through various media networks go contrary to this matter and are false and all such statements are hereby categorically rebuffed. Furthermore, I would also like to state that there has been no inquiry of whatever nature made by His Excellency the President or any other officer from the Presidential Secretariat on this matter from the Public Service Commission or the Health Service Committee under it purview.
