The Puttalam Police Special Task Force (STF) arrested three persons last Sunday while raiding an illegal cannabis cultivation in Kammala, Wennappuwa.
The cultivation was being maintained in a 40-perch land. STF officers seized 863 cannabis plants in the raid.
Further investigations revealed that the owner of the cultivation had recently bought 1kg of cannabis seeds from Thanamalwila and Siyambalanduwa, at a cost of Rs.10,000.
The suspects and plants have been handed over to the Wennappuwa Police for further investigations.
