Travel ban on MP Champika, driver

The Colombo Additional Magistrate Kanchana Neranjana de Silva yesterday issued a travel ban on MP Patali Champika Ranawaka and his driver Thusith Dilum Kumara.

The Additional Magistrate made this order pursuant to a request made by the Colombo Crimes Division.

MP Patali Champika Ranawaka and his driver are accused of involvement in a motor accident in Rajagiriya in 28, March 2016. Two youth were seriously injured during the accident.

The CCD also informed court that they received a complaint stating that MP Patali Champika Ranawaka was the person who drove the vehicle at the time the incident occurred. CCD further stated that they initiated an investigation regarding the complaint. CCD also stated that they would obtain statements from MP Patali Champika Ranawaka in the near future regarding the incident.
