Gampaha Sanasa Bank Chairman arrested

The Gampaha Sanasa Bank Chairman was arrested by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers yesterday for allegedly misappropriating over Rs.550 million from customers’ accounts.

Police media spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said suspect Lalitha Jayasuriya (66), an attorney-at-law of Medagampitiya, Divulapitiya, was arrested by CID officers yesterday on charges of misappropriating money from 120 customers’ accounts. He had been arrested at his office in Gampaha.

He will be produced at the Gampaha Magistrate’s court today.
