Three held for illegal sand mining in Silawathura

Three persons who were illegally transporting sand in the Hunaisnagar area in Silawathura were arrested in a raid conducted by the Navy on Thursday.

The suspects who were illegally transporting a load of sand without permits, were apprehended in the Hunaisnagar area in Silawathura during a raid carried out by Northwestern Naval Command. The suspects and a tractor with load of sand were taken into Naval custody and were handed over to Silawathura Police for legal action.

Further, contributing to the national policy of environmental conservation, the Navy conducts frequent raids in order to arrest persons involved in illegal sand mining rackets.
