Gamini Sri Ananda to be Hambantota Mayor

The Hambantota Municipal Commissioner said Deputy Mayor Gamini Sri Ananda will be appointed as the Acting Mayor of Hambantota as Court sentenced Mayor Eraj Ravindra Fernando to five years’ rigorous imprisonment.

If Fernando files an appeal against the judgment, the Commissioner said, the appointment will be valid till the ruling on the appeal.

Deputy Mayor Ananda contested the Local Government polls with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) ticket.
