Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake yesterday issued an order directing the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to conduct an investigation regarding former IGP Pujith Jayasundara in connection with an incident of allegedly harassing and abusing Police officers in the elevator and reception unit.
The CID informed the court that former IGP Jayasundara had arrived at the Criminal Investigations Department without informing the relevant officials.
The CID stated that a Police Constable had lodged a complaint regarding this incident before the Speaker of Parliament and the Police Commission in 2016. “The Police Constable had resigned from his job on 2016,” the CID stated. On June 2, the same Police Constable had made a complaint before the Acting IGP Senior DiG C.W. Wickaramarathne regarding this incident.
