Pakistan Navy Staff Course team visits Sri Lanka

A delegation from the Pakistan Navy Staff Course led by Rear Admiral Naveed Ahmed Rizvi visited Sri Lanka from April 7-11, as part of their foreign study tour.

During their stay in the island, the members of the delegation toured several places of academic importance and called on Navy Chief of Staff Rear Admiral Jagath Ranasinghe at the Naval Headquarters on April 8.

The delegation also called on Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne as well as Pakistani High Commissioner Shahid Ahmed Hashmat and briefed them about their studies. Subsequently, the delegation paid a visit to the Defence Services Command and Staff College in Batalanda where they were familiarised with how the Staff Course was conducted in Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Navy Staff Course delegation called on Army Commander Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake and Air Force Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias on April 9 and held cordial discussions on matters of mutual interest.

Next, they visited the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies where the visiting party was briefed on the engagements of the institute.

Finally, Rear Admiral Rizvi and the visiting delegation visited the Southern and Eastern Naval Commands on April 10 and 11.

The respective Area Commanders explained to the delegation the duties and responsibilities entrusted on each command. Mementos were also exchanged to signify these events.

Defence Advisor to the Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka, Colonel Sajjad Ali was also present on these occasions.

The delegation of the Pakistan Navy Staff Course, on successful completion of their study tour, left Sri Lanka on April 11.
