CCC juniors win MCA U-13 C’ship

CCC. School of Cricket, won the U-13 Inter Academy Cricket Championship for the second successive year, when they comfortably beat the hosts, M.C.A. Cricket Tournament conducted by the Mercantile Cricket Association, played at M.C.A. Grounds.

C.C.C. Junior cricketers, led by Linal Subasingnghe were unbeaten throughout the entire tournament, having beaten S.A. Cricket Academy, C.A; Pamadura cricket coaching school and N.C.C School of Cricket in the preliminary Round of the Tournament.

In the quarterfinals, CCC beat H.R. Cricket Academy and went on to beat strong Nondescript School of Cricket in the semifinal.

In the finals, MCA who balled first were restricted to 145 for 7 wickets in 30 overs with Tenushka Nanayakkara and Prakash Gamaathige capturing two wickets each.

CCC’s run chase was helped by a hurricane 40 runs by opener Pravan Williams, and a sedate innings 0f 62 not out by Sahana Dabare which gave CCC and easy 08 wickets win with six overs to spare.

Other players who figured prominently are skipper Linal Subasinghe, Sharujan SHanmuganathan, Pravan Williams, Vice Captain and opening bowler, Uvin Perera, off spinner Prakash Gamaathige who took 13 wickets at an average of 6.8,

in the tournament and Tenushka Nanayakkara the other opening bowler.

Wicketkeeper Hiurun Kapurubandara also did a good job behind the wickets.

Stylish No.3 batsman Shan Dabare, who top scored in the final with an elegant 62 not out won the Player of the Final trophy at the awards presentation held at MCA Pavilian with former MCA president Chrys Obesekara as the chief guest.

CCC team’s head coach, veteran Nelson Mendis Coach Manoj Millawithanachchi and Lasantha Kumara were the men behind CCC’s Victory.

The champion team consisted of Linal Subasinghe (Capt), Livin Perera (V. Capt), Sahan Dabare, Pravan Williams, Prakash Gamaathige, Tenushka Nanayakkara, SHarujan Shanmuganathan, Hirun Kapurubandara, Jassin Rizvi, Aiden Weerasinghe, Aniske Gooneratne, Vihas Karunduwage, Ravindu Sigera, Vidun Weeraddana, Kavishka Tissakuttige, Damien Candaudaarachchi.
