Kevin Dixon to lead Sri Lanka under 20 team

Former Peterite skipper and utility player Kevin Dixon is tipped to lead the 15 member squad for the upcoming Asian Rugby Under 20 Sevens series which is due to commence on July 30, 2016 in Malaysia. Ex-Isipathana skipper Omalka Gunaratne will be his deputy. Sri Lanka will play their first match against Philippines in the series opener on July 30 (Saturday) followed by the games against Thailand and the Asian giants Japan later on the first day. On the second day July 31 (Sunday) they will play their final group game against UAE.

Former Sri Lanka sevens captain cum scrum half Sudath Sampath will be the head coach of the team.

The Under 20 Sevens tournament organized by the Asia Rugby Football Union (ARFU) is a two-leg series and the second leg will take place in August in Hong Kong. The two leg tour will consist of 10 teams from Asia including number one ranked team Japan.
