Trinity enter final with easy win over Nalanda

Trinity College Kandy advanced to the final of "Singer Trophy' Under 19 inter schools limited overs cricket tournament by beating Nalanda College Colombo by 109 runs in the semi final played at R. Premadasa International Cricket stadium Colombo yesterday.

Trinity Kandy won the toss and elected to bat and scored 286 runs for 6 wickets in 50 overs. Dilan Jayalath scored 92 runs in 86 balls with 11 balls and 2 sixes.

Shanogeeth Shanmuganathan scored 87 runs in 103 balls with 11 balls. Dilan Jayalath and Shanogeeth Shanmuganathan put on 145 runs for the third wicket. Nimnaka Rathnayake took three wickets for 37 runs and Kalana Perera took 3 wickets for 53 runs. Nalanda were able to make only 177 runs in 44.5 overs. Kavindu Bandara scored 46 runs and Madhushan Hasaranga scored 33 runs. Shanogeeth Shanmuganathan took 4 wickets for 30 runs and Lahiru Kumara took 4 wickets for 32 runs.

Trinity College Kandy will meet St. Sebastian's College Moratuwa in the final on 1st April at the same venue.
