UPDATE: Two more persons have been arrested from Negombo, in connection with the 110 kg heroin stock seized from Southern seas according to Police sources.
The main suspect in connection with the 110 kilograms of heroin which was seized by the Sri Lanka Navy and Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) on 1 April, was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport by Immigration officials when the suspect arrived from India.
On 1 April, 110 kilograms of heroin has been seized and 11 suspects were arrested in a joint operation by the Sri Lanka Navy and Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB), which was carried out in the Southern Sea.
According to reports the haul of heroin was on aboard a shipping vessel headed to Sri Lanka. The 11 suspects include, 10 Iranians and a Pakistani national. Later on three more suspects were also arrested in connection when they tried to flee the Sri Lankan base of operation.
