NCE Export Awards fetes outstanding exporters

The 21st Annual NCE Export Awards Ceremony was held last week at Hilton Colombo and over 90 awards were presented. Anverally & Sons (Pvt) Ltd won the Most Outstanding Exporter for the year award while Malinie Sita Gamalath Yahampath, Managing Director, Kandygs Handlooms (Exports) Ltd won the best woman Exporter Gold Award.

In addtion Euro Asia Corporation (Pvt) Ltd made a tremendous impact at the event winning the Gold Award for being adjudged the Best Sri Lankan Brand Exporter.

Following are the Gold award winners. NCE President Dr Jagath Peiris said that NCE Awards Ceremony is now recognized as the most prestigious and glamorous event in the corporate calendar of exporting companies.

The country's best exporters are recognized for their efforts and many exporters have confirmed that winning an award at this important event is a huge motivational factor for the entire company to improve their export performances in the following years. Hundreds of applications are received every year for these awards. Anura Siriwardena Secretary Ministry of Industry and Commerce said that it was encouraging to note that the NCE, which is the Chamber that exclusively serves the Exporters of Sri Lanka, has committed itself to work in partnership with the Government to achieve national development goals especially the export targets to be achieved by the year 2020. The Ministry of Industry and Commerce as an Agency of the Government, works closely with Sri Lankan Exporters also through the NCE, which has a wide membership comprising of exporters in all product sectors, exporters of services as well as service providers to exporters. Executive Director NCE, Rasa Weerasingham said that they celebrate the performance of the outstanding achievers in the Export Arena this year we must note that overall export revenue in to the country is trailing at 7.9% as at half year.

"Even though this is triggered by the political and economic Turmoil globally, stemming from the EU and extending to the US which accounts for the major share of the Sri Lankan export Consumption. We have to find away to handle this situation".
