SLAF douse fire at milling factory
Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) personnel doused a chemical fire that broke out at a private milling factory complex in Trincomalee yesterday.
SLAF Spokesperson Wing Commander Gihan Seneviratna said SLAF personnel manning the SLAF Air Traffic Control Academy in China Bay had seen smoke rising from the area at 11.15 a.m. and upon inquiry found that a fire had broken out in the stores of the complex.
Construction materials such as rubber, plastics and various chemicals had been destroyed in the fire.
"We deployed our fire fighters and brought the fire under control by 12.15 p.m.," he said.
