Technology stream launched in 200 schools

The new technological syllabus commenced yesterday in 200 schools marking a turning point in the country's education sector.

The Education Ministry on the direction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa introduced the new technology stream of the GCE A-L curriculum yesterday.

Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena was present to launch the new subject at Mihinthale Maha Vidyalaya.

The subject was launched at Swarna Jayanthi Maha Vidyalaya, Kegalle followed by 18 schools in the Sabaragamuwa province. National Heritage Minister Jagath Balasooriya and Kegalle district MP Kanaka Herath were present. Students who choose this subject stream will be able to follow courses at the University of Vocational Technology or at the 25 university institutions that are to be established by the Higher Education Ministry.
