Budget 2015 grants approval to obtain certain loans till year's end

Many countries have expressed their willingness to grant loans to Sri Lanka, said Deputy Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva.
"Even though Parliament has been dissolved, the government need not refrain from borrowing money from foreign countries," the Deputy Minister said.
"Budget 2015 has granted approval to get certain loans till year's end. Seven countries have called for bids valued at US dollar 500 million," he said referring to a statement made by former UPFA MP Prof. G.L. Peiris that the government should refrain from obtaining foreign loans until the conclusion of the August 17 election....
The Police will provide its utmost support to ensure security during the election period, said Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara
Addressing the media at the Police headquarters yesterday, ASP Gunasekara said according to the Constitution, the election period started from mid night of June 27 until a week after the end of election on August 17.
"Senior DIG Gamini Navaratne has been appointed as the police officer to monitor post-election violence," he added.
