Sri Lanka Youth side departs for England

A 15-member Sri Lanka U19 team led by Charith Asalanka with Avishka Fernando who led Sri Lanka youths successfully in their recent home series against South Africa U19 as his deputy left the island in the early hours on Sunday for a month long tour of England.

Sri Lanka youths are due to play two four-day Youth Tests and three Youth ODIs during their tour. Charith who led Sri Lanka U19s in the ICC U19 World Cup in Bangladesh earlier this year and currently is on Sri Lanka A teams duty in England will join the party once rest of the team arrive in England.

Lahiru Kumara, Wanindu Hasaranga and Charith himself who did not play against South Africa were the new additions to this England-bound squad.

Before the teams departure, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Thilanga Sumathipala addressing the team and their parents at SL Cricket Head Quarters said It is a rare

opportunity to all of these 15 players to be a part of this tour to England.

Do your best and most importantly, play as a team and bring back glory to our country. Before you all break into the domestic scene, this will surely be a great stepping stone.
