Police express dissatisfaction at sudden transfer scheme

Police officers have expressed dissatisfaction at the Police Department’s sudden decision to transfer all police officers having completed six years’ service in a one province, to another province, with immediate effect.

Police sources said police officers believed that the Department should implement a transfer process upon request, rather than make recommendations to transfer all officers arbitrarily.

Sources said further that police officers’ job satisfaction would suffer, if the new decision was implemented, which could impact the discharging of their duties.

They also pointed out how the transfers could hamper the education of children - especially for officers currently serving in the Western Province.

They requested the Inspector General of Police to immediately intervene to cancel the proposed programme.
