Fire aboard ship in Colombo Port

A container on board a ship birthed in the Colombo Port caught fire yesterday. Sources said the blaze occurred in the ship which had arrived from India and  birthed in the Colombo Port . A container filled with lithium batteries had burned in the fire and the blaze was controlled by the Fire Brigade with the assistance of Sri Lanka Navy. According to the sources the blaze had erupted in the ship named PMA CGM ROSSINI carrying the French flag. They said that the fire in the ship was not intense. But when water was thrown on the fire it created a huge smoke due to the lithium batteries. There were no causalities.
