Several Asgiriya Karaka Sangha Sabha members raise concern

Several members of the Karaka Sangha Sabha of the Asgiriya Chapter have raised concerns over the appointment of the new Central Province Governor.

Sources said they have urged the ministers to take a decision regarding this appointment soon.

Several members of the Sangha Sabha have reportedly informed of their decision to Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Minister Mahinda Amaraweera and Social Welfare

and Empowerment Minister S. B. Dissanayake when they called on the several members of Asgiriya Chapter in Kandy yesterday.

The Maha Sangha while stressing that they do not have any personal issues with the Governor of the Central Province have reportedly informed the ministers that many issues will crop up.

These erudite monks have pointed out to the ministers that there may be issues in conducting cultural and religious activities centering the Temple of Tooth Relic, the Asgiriya and Malwatta Maha Viharayas and Sathara Maha Devalas.

The monks have reportedly told the Ministers to convey the message to the President to appoint present the Governor to another province.

They have proposed to appoint a new Central Province Govrnor so that they can easily coordinate the cultural and social activities and traditions that have been conducted for centuries.
