Heads of mission summoned for meeting end March

Heads of Missions abroad have been summoned for a meeting at the end of March, Foreign Ministry sources said.

They are to meet the President and the Prime Minister to discuss policy. Each mission will be assigned specific deliverables, according to new government strategy, Deputy Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva told the Daily news.

"Every mission must deliver. Over the last so many years there were neither targets nor a specific plan."

A proper implementation strategy and deliverables is to be developed in discussion with Foreign Minister Managala Samaraweera while Mission Heads are to also meet leading CEOs of the country to discuss economic diplomacy. "The meeting is generally to ensure that our missions actively engage to integrate Sri Lanka with the rest of the world as a strong respectable nation," de Silva said.
