Strict ban on polythene, plastic in national parks, wildlife sanctuaries

Sustainable Development and Wildlife Minister Gamini Jayawickrema Perera instructed the officials to maintain a strict ban on the use of polythene and plastic inside national parks and wildlife sanctuaries.

The minister after visiting the Mirijjawila Wildlife Park during the weekend, instructed the ministry secretary to strictly enforce the ban on the use of plastic and polythene shopping bags to protect

wildlife and reduce litter, pollution and overall waste.
