Israeli General's son to speak at Palestine Solidarity Day in Colombo

Author and activist, Miko Peled will speak at the event commemorating the United Nations Day for Solidarity with Palestine, organized by the Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine on December 4 at 3.45 pm at the Sports Ministry Auditorium (Reid Avenue) in Colombo, with Speaker KaruJayasuriya as the Chief Guest.

Known as a powerful speaker, Miko Peled is the son of a historic figure, the highly revered Israeli General Mattityahu "Matti" Peled, who is considered by many historians to have been the architect of the 1967 Six-Day War. His grandfather, Dr. Avraham Katsnelson was a Zionist leader and signer of the Israeli Declaration of Independence.

Miko Peled will speak about his personal journey (which has included the death of his niece in a suicide bombing) and his research in Israeli state archives to unveil and dispel many commonly accepted myths and "truths" about the history of the Palestine/Israeli struggle since 1947.

Peled is the author of the acclaimed, "The General's Son," that described in detail his family's leadership in the Israeli state and his father's and his own conversion to peace activism.

A book consisting of articles by the late Hameed Abdul Kareem will be released at the event. The event is open to the public.
