Suspect in journalist Nimalarajan’s murder arrested in UK

A suspect has been arrested by the Metropolitan Police in connection with the murder of Tamil journalist Mylvaganam Nimalarajan, while he was hiding in the Northamptonshire area of Britain on March 30.

Information has been uncovered that this 49-year-old suspect is a resident of Jaffna. Journalist Mylvaganam Nimalarajan was killed on October 19, 2000, and the Jaffna Police, who were investigating a bicycle left near his house, arrested six people, including four EPDP members. The trial in that regard was heard in the Jaffna Magistrate’s Court and the High Court and court had acquitted all the six accused of murder four years ago. Based on information received by the Metropolitan Police a suspect was arrested in Britain in connection with Nimalarajan’s murder in such such background.
