Kurukkal waylaid, robbed in Batticaloa

Two persons disguised as police officers had robbed the Kurukkal of Mari Amman Kovil in Kaluvanchikudi, Batticaloa. When the Kurukkal (69) was riding his motorcycle, two persons, who had followed his motorcycle, had asked him to stop stating that they were from the Police. They had fled after robbing his 3-pound gold chain, Rs.110,000 cash in his bag and his two mobile phones.

The Kurukkal is a resident of Mawathda, Palugamam. Police said investigations were on to arrest the suspects following a complaint received by the Kurukkal.
