The Supreme Court yesterday concluded the hearing of the petition filed requesting to declare that the “Central Bank of Sri Lanka (Amended) Bill” which has been submitted for Parliamentary approval is not compatible with the Constitution.
The Supreme Court declared that its determination regarding the matter will be conveyed to the Speaker at the earliest.
The petition was called before the Supreme Court three Judge Bench comprising Priyantha Jayawardene, Kumuduni Wickramasinghe and Arjuna Obeyesekere.
During the petition hearing, Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, who appeared before court, explained the facts regarding the Bill. The Supreme Court three Judge Bench thanked Dr.Weerasinghe for his explanation.
